The Cisco Kid TV Show
Western fans of the 1950s, the ‘Golden Age of Television and Movies,' recall with fondness the TV series “The Cisco Kid.” Starring Duncan Renaldo as The Cisco Kid and Leo Carrillo as Cisco’s comedic sidekick Pancho Gonzales, the series ran from 1950 to 1956.
Most of The Cisco Kid shows were filmed near Palm Springs, California in Pioneer Town, a movie lot town. Remarkably, long before many Americans even owned a color television set, the series was filmed in color. "The Cisco Kid" idea was originally penned by O’Henry (Oliver) as a short story, although his Cisco Kid was a much darker and more complicated character than the one in films and on television. However, the tale spun off into a comic book series, radio series and then hit the big screen.
